Wow! I had no idea that wasn't Pete. My apologies then, Mr. Townshend; I thought maybe you were pulling a Sean Connery in the episode -- "Yes, I'm bald and I don't try to hide it, but if you're going to animate me, slap some hair on my dome!"

It wasn't just Pete who had the '70s look, Robert - it was all three of them. Actually, all three of their looks were taken directly from the look they sported on the cover of Who Are You and from the live footage from The Kids Are Alright. I'm not sure who decided, but I can tell you for sure that it wasn't Pete: Pete declined to be involved in the episode at all. The voices you hear are Roger, John and Pete's brother, Paul (who doesn't sound like Pete at all).

No idea why Pete declined to be involved. I'm guessing he was in a bad mood when the idea was proposed.

Jason, as a "Simpsons" and a Who fan, did you find it odd that when the Who appeared on "The Simpsons" in 2000, Townshend had hair? It was as if he agreed to appear with Daltrey and Entwistle on the show ONLY if he was animated sporting his '70s 'do. I think Animated Pete even had a beard, just like in the '70s. If Townshend were to submit a current picture of himself to simpsonizeme.com, I think the results would be different.

I was checking out some of the recent comments left for my videos when I noticed your blog in the "Links" list. Seeing as how Pete is all about viewing things in the greater context, I thought I might clear some things up. For the record, Pete said (in an interview that can be found on the "Isle of Wight" DVD) that he used physical signals to communicate with Keith and John on stage, "like a conductor." The way he moved ("...maybe with a bum-wiggle in the middle") would indicate some forthcoming rhythmic pattern. Personally, I just included those clips because I like to look at his booty. And if that's wrong, then by God, I don't want to be right. Anyway, sorry for droning on...thanks for linking to this.

Well, I don't know if Pete is on my team or not, but I'm not laying claim to the rump shaking, either! However, the across-the-stage-on-his-knees slide at 2:13 is pretty much the embodiment of rock and roll - I think we can all agree on that...

He's a talented man, but I hope he's not offended when people question his heterosexuality after some of those moves.
