jasonhare.com Pwned?

I’m so excited!  That’s twice in one week that I’ve been able to use that word!

Actually, no, I haven’t been pwned.  But I’m going to slow down a bit.

I don’t blame you for chuckling, since I only post twice a week.  But I’m a slow writer and tend to do a fair amount of reading before I start writing.  (I blame this on all of you – shame on you, turning me on to music I haven’t heard before.)  So even my two posts occupy quite a few hours of time each week, and I need to re-focus some of those hours into other pursuits.  (This includes, but is not limited to, getting Michael McDonald to return my phone calls.)

So I’m not going away, or shutting down.  I just won’t be posting MG and Chart Attack every week.  But I’ll still be writing when I can.  I’ll also try and post little items here and there on things I find interesting, which was a goal when I started this blog but kind of fell by the wayside when I started doing the weekly posts.  And for those who were around last December, Mellowmas is totally returning.  (Jeff has been planning it since May.)

To those who have volunteered to step in and write some guest posts: thank you for offering, and I’ll be in touch.

So if you want to know when I’ve added new content, there’s always the RSS feed:  http://feeds.feedburner.com/Jasonharecom .  But if you’re not into the RSS thing, you can sign up to get simple, brief e-mail notifications whenever I post here.  You can sign up now below, or at anytime by using the box on the upper right side of the site.

This service is powered by FeedBlitz, a great little company that won’t spam you.  Promise.  I subscribe to a few websites through them, and have never had any problems whatsoever.

So that’s that.  Thanks for continuing to read and comment, and it won’t be long.

If you give me a chart or an MG with some time to spare, I’d glad spay you Tuesday for a spam-burger today.

  2. CG Says:

OMG so now Jeff is gone and you’re cutting back?  This sucks…you know for me….cause it’s all about me.  :(

  3. Robert Says:

How dare you try to upstage the 9/11 anniversary, Jason!  Oh well, you deserve a break, and the research you do is much appreciated, except for the times when I call you out on a minuscule fact-checking error, but the ladies love when I do that, so I can’t stop now.  It’ll be interesting to see what else you post, of course.  I keep forgetting to ask you if you ever saw the Richard Donner cut of "Superman II."

  4. Jason Says:

Oh, you mean that box set that I posted about with the title "I Shall Be Buying This Post-Haste?"  I bought it about six months later (I was waiting for them to fix one of the discs and re-issue) and so far, I’ve watched one disc out of the 14 enclosed.  So I haven’t.  But I remember that post well.  You commented and I responded with "thanks, Richard."

  5. David Says:

See? This is PRECISELY why I don’t start my own blog. I don’t want to break any hearts. Like you. Heartbreaker.

  6. Jason Says:

I ask myself this all the time: why do I have to be a heartbreaker?  Is it a lesson that I never knew?

    LOVE that song.

  7. Dw Dunphy Says:

    "She’s a heartbreaker…lovetaker…Brubaker…run this prison like a man…oh-oh"

  8. Robert Says:

Yes, you did call me Richard (as in "Go away, DICK"), even after we bonded over the "Pretty Woman" soundtrack.  Did those comments mean NOTHING to you?!  I think the first time I ever commented was when I asked a bunch of questions about "Cookie Disco," from one of the "Sesame Street" albums that’s never been reissued on CD.

  9. Sini Says:

And to think I only started reading this blog regularly over the last few weeks. *Sigh*

  10. Drew Says:

Damnit. I found this site a week ago. It’s true. Everything I love runs away. Hope the guest posters can fill the void. Need my mellow gold fix!

What the fuck is up with many of my favorite music bloggers getting lives!

  12. Robert Says:

Drew, you’ve got fortysomething installments you can catch up on in the meantime. They’re definitely worth the time that you could spend doing something productive. (The polar ice caps were going to melt anyway, so forget about that.)

  13. K Rock Says:

    Jason,
How depressing! If you ever need anyone to do a Chart Attack, I will gladly do that for you.

  14. David Says:

I, too, would happily volunteer to tackle a Chart Attack or a MG post to tide you over.

I could use all the free time I suddenly have since Jefito’s gone offline.

  15. Neel Mehta Says:

Echoing David with the Chart Attack volunteering. Maybe something from that worst era of music, late 1980s freestyle.

  16. Elaine Says:

The Internetz is just not the same without jason and jefito.  And now I have "I lost me cookie at the disco" in my head.  THANKS A LOT, RODNEY.

  17. Robert Says:

    I prefer Rodney to Richard.

  18. harmolodic Says:

Jason, I’d be happy to write some guest posts once in a while. In the meantime, I’m linking to your blog on mine. By the way, Chart Attack rules!

I have a solution to the issue of you and Jefito and other music blogger finding the time to maintain your sites. Why not band together and start a new site where a group of you contribute content whenever you have time? You guys could take popular ideas from here and Jeff’s blog and take turns writing things like Chart Attack and the like?Because of Jefito, I’ve found a bunch of writers I really like, but I can totally understand how generating a constant supply of content by yourself can be a total pain in the ass. That’s why I’ve never committed to my own blog.

  21. Taylor Says:

"But I’m a slow writer and tend to do a fair amount of reading before I start writing. "Aye, same here. It takes me forever to write even the shortest piece.

  22. Broad Says:

Speaking of Jefito, where did he go? Did I miss the memo that he’s gone?
